Einstein's theory of relativity was met with skepticism and disbelief when it was first published, but it was eventually proven to be correct through numerous experiments. In 1915, Einstein published his theory of general relativity, which expanded upon his earlier work and explained the phenomenon of gravity. This theory predicted that massive objects, like stars and galaxies, would bend light, and this prediction was confirmed during the 1919 solar eclipse.
